This practical AutoCAD course is designed for students and professionals in the design and construction industries who want to upskill and produce accurate, industry-standard documentation packages for residential projects.
Develop documentation in conjunction with the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards, so every project you design is compliant, practical and construction ready. Leave with an AutoCAD portfolio of technical drawings and the confidence to work across residential and interior projects with real industry credibility.

Equipment
As part of your course enrolment, you will receive a free student subscription to AutoCAD through Autodesk.
You’ll access a link to subscribe via our eCampus when you commence your study using your course confirmation letter.

What does the course cover?
This course introduces the fundamentals of AutoCAD alongside essential knowledge of residential construction, project workflows, the NCC and Australian Standards.
You’ll develop a technical understanding of how interior projects are documented, coordinated and delivered in professional practice and that meet industry expectations.
Through a real-world residential project, you’ll learn how to clearly communicate design intent, ensure compliance, and prepare an industry‑standard documentation package including plans, elevations, joinery details and schedules used across interior design, architecture and construction environments.
Whilst it’s desirable to have a basic understanding of technical drawing, it’s not essential. Our dedicated Educators will introduce you to the software step by step, starting with the basics.

Whether you’re studying on campus, in our virtual studio or self-paced online, you’ll have full access to our eCampus, packed with detailed resources and demonstration videos.
As you progress through the course, you’ll apply your new knowledge and skills to practical activities that build towards your final assessment.
You’ll then submit your work and receive detailed feedback from your Educator, so you get the best possible result from your course.
What support can I expect?
On campus and virtual studio

Self-paced online
Our online courses are self-directed but if you have questions, you can reach our Educators by email during Sydney studio hours, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm AEST, with a 48-hour response time.

What tools will I need?
You’ll need a powerful laptop or desktop computer with a dedicated graphics card, Microsoft Office, a three button scroll wheel mouse, and a 2 to 4TB external hard drive.
AutoCAD is delivered on PC. If you use a Mac, you’ll need to purchase and install Windows. Note: We’re not able to provide Mac installation or technical support.
You’ll get a free student subscription to AutoCAD to complete the course.
Who is this course for?
No previous experience is needed; however, a basic understanding of residential construction is desirable.
This is a practical, fast paced course designed for Designers and Architects and those working in the construction industry, along with architecture and interior design students.
When can I start?
Our on-campus courses run for one day per week for 6 weeks.
There are no set intakes for our self-paced online courses, so you can apply and start anytime, from anywhere. Please allow one business day for us to process your application and payment.
