Yes. We don’t require an ATAR, so school leavers can apply and secure their place before their final results are released, we just care about your passion for interiors.

It depends on your course. Certificate IV applicants may have a short phone call to confirm English proficiency. Diploma and Advanced Diploma applicants are invited to an informal interview, held on campus or via video call, to make sure the course is the right fit.

You’ll receive a system generated email confirming we’ve received your application. Our team will then review it, and either confirm your enrolment or get in touch to arrange your interview (Diploma and Advanced Diploma).

Yes, if you’re an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or hold a permanent humanitarian visa, and you’re enrolling in the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Interior Design. This loan is not available for self-paced online study. You can borrow towards your course fees up to the eligible cap, with a loan fee added on top. It won’t cover the full cost of your course, so we’ll set up an instalment plan for the balance. Our online application form includes the option to apply for VSL, and our team will guide you through the rest at your interview.

At SDS there are no exams. Most assessments are practical and presented in class, with a small component of written research assignments.

Yes. Most of our accredited courses offer a deposit followed by monthly instalments via Ezidebit, available to Australian bank account holders only, as well as the option to pay upfront. Self-paced online courses through Interior Design Online can be paid upfront, in instalments or unit by unit.

Self-paced online courses are delivered by our partner school, Interior Design Online, using a separate application form. Apply there for the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration, Certificate IV in Design (Styling), Diploma of Interior Design and a range of short courses.

If you’re joining us from New Zealand, you’re categorised as a domestic student, so you can apply using this page. Other international students need to follow a separate step by step application process. Head to our international students application page to get started.

Existing students re-enrolling into a new course use our re-enrolment form, rather than the standard application form.

Attendance matters to your progress, so if you know you’ll miss a class, let your Educator know ahead of time. All course content is available on our eCampus, so you can catch up on class notes and resources in your own time. If missing class affects an assessment deadline, our Assessment Extension Policy is there to help keep you on track.

Yes, if your circumstances change, you may be able to move between our on campus, virtual studio or self-paced online study modes. You may also be able to adjust your on campus days of the week. This is managed under our Course Transfer Policy, so get in touch with our team to talk through your options.
